Jake now gives Edith a time limit of 3 days to pack up and move out. She did so on the first day. On the second, she hired movers. On the third, she enjoys her last meal in the mansion. It was – You guess it, a huge pile of shrimp, accompanied by wine.
After finishing her meal, she took the pile of leftover shrimp shells and stuffed them into every single curtain rod she could lay her hands on. She cleaned up, and left for good. Unbeknownst to Jake, he celebrated his now-vacant love nest with his secretary girlfriend. The house started to reek of dead shellfish – Jake hired exterminators, cleaners and even renovators to rid the mansion of the smell. Nothing worked. Jake and his girlfriend were left with no choice but to move out.
Friends stopped coming, maids and butlers resigned. A month later, Jake put the house up for sale. Buyers avoided it like the plague due to the smell of shrimp.
