Buddy’s owner is working with the Murray River Council and will be in compliance with the Companion Animals Act. According to reports, on March 2nd, the mother of two young boys was trying to drown her children in the Murray River at Moama.
Buddy reacted to the attempt and bit the older boy to help. Buddy wasn’t able to help the younger boy, who perished. A “Help Save Buddy” campaign was started by the community, and thankfully, the city council listened.
Buddy has no history of biting and is a gentle dog by all accounts. The only way Buddy could try to help the drowning boy was to use his teeth.
The petition to save Buddy’s life had 45,000 signatures on it! The nine-year old is resting comfortably at Royal Children’s Hospital. The body of his younger brother, 5, was found on March 4th.
Rest in Peace, little one.
