This story is just disturbing – in many ways. First, a mother threw her 9-year-old son into a river. Second, the dog who rescued the boy was going to be euthanized because people thought that the dog had mauled the boy. The pit bull, Buddy, however, will be returned to his owners.

The authorities believe that the dog was not actually attacking the boy – but helping the boy. The 9-year-old boy was hospitalized after the incident.

Margot Stork, the Murray River Council interim general manager, said that Buddy has now been micro-chipped and they are working to get suitable conditions for the dog to return to his owner.
