Orangutan Was Locked Up Most Of Her Life, Rescuers Heartbroken To See Her Bones

A spokesperson from International Animal Rescue (IAR) said Amy had the blank gaze and dead eyes that a life of loneliness and neglect bring. A veterinarian with IAR, Sulhi Aufa, slowly reached towards Amy.

Soon Amy looked up and met Sulhi’s eyes. Then Amy reached out a hand.

When Amy was more comfortable, they removed her chain and took her out of that crate (for good). Just look at those eyes – pleading for help.

Amy had been in the crate so long her legs and spine were bent.
