In Florida, a mother killed her own daughter and then put the body in a freezer. Keishanna Thomas, 33, will now spend the next 65 years in prison. She pleaded no contest to second-degree murder charges on August 9. The body of her 11-year-old daughter, Janiya Thomas had been found in a freezer back in October 2015. Keishanna had the freezer delivered to relatives after having killed Janiya with a combination of asphyxiation, drowning, and starvation.

The medical examiner, however, could not determine one specific cause of death.
Prosecutor Arthur Brown believes that Janiya had been in the freezer for so long, it affected the medical examiner’s ability to find the exact cause of death.
