Ben Breedlove was born with an extremely rare and incurable heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. According to the Mayo Clinic, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is when the heart muscle becomes thickened, and that makes it hard for the heart to pump blood around the body. Ben’s parents, Shawn and Deanne Breedlove, were not willing to wallow in self-pity, they instead chose to live each day they had with Ben to its fullest.

They were not going to let his life be any different despite his life-threatening condition. Throughout the years, Ben suffered three cardiac arrests and would tell his parents after each one that he had seen visions of heaven.

Ben said he remembered seeing bright lights and angels. He also felt a sense of overwhelming sense of peace.
