There are pit bulls who have been trained to sniff out explosives, cadaver, narcotics, and arson detection. Some pit bulls have also been trained in criminal apprehension.

Universal K9 founder, Brad Croft, said that any dog that has confidence, drive, and a will to work can be trained to work. Austin Pets Alive! says that each dog has to be treated individually – behavior isn’t based just on looks.
Surprisingly, the only difficulty that most police department trainers have reported having with the new pit bull recruits is getting them to be aggressive towards people! Go Figure!
