This story starts out rather sad, as most good stories do. Then the best part comes at the end. There is a happy ending! We all love happy endings because they make us feel good. It gives us hope that even during the tough times, there could be a happy ending waiting for us. When MeBai was a young elephant, she was taken from her mother and sold into the tourist industry in Thailand.
There she was forced to give rides to tourists. She even worked in a circus. Because she was mistreated and taken away from her mother when she was too young, her health deteriorated.
Eventually, she couldn’t give tourists rides because she was too weak. Lek Chailert from Elephant Nature Park rescued her and gave her a home at the sanctuary.
