Dad Had A Gun Standoff With SWAT Team When Doctors Wanted To Remove Son’s Life-Support

One should never underestimate the power of love, especially parental love – loving fathers and mothers that would do anything for their children exist all around the world. One father in particular, at the risk of his own life, proved that he truly loved his son.

In Houston, Texas, George Pickering II was jailed for 11 months and charged for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after pulling a gun and threatening hospital staff in a bid to save his son’s life. George Pickering III was warded in Tomball Regional Medical Center’s critical care unit due to a stroke, on life-support which doctors wanted to pull the plug on.

Hopeless and desperate, George Pickering II concluded that the doctors were making a rash decision as he strongly believed that his son was still alive. This led to a 3 to 4 hour long stand off with the local SWAT team.

Pickering stated:”I knew if I had three or four hours that night that I would know whether George was brain dead.” He continues:”All I knew I just needed to have this time with George.” Pickering’s rash decisions were due to intoxication earlier on in the day.
