While the vegan lifestyle is commendable in many ways, it’s a diet that works fine for humans – not necessarily for animals! Plenty of creatures out there are mainly carnivorous and need meat in order to survive and develop as necessary.
YouTuber and social media influencer Sonia Sae has recently come under fire due to the fact that her fennec fox, Jumanji, is on a vegan diet.
In the wild, foxes of this breed usually eat 90% meant and insects, with only 10% of their diet being made up of plants – yet Jumanji has been on a vegan diet for his entire time spent living with Sonia.
Fennec foxes require components like taurine and calcium in order to function, and most of this can only be taken from insects or animal tissue.
Without them, Jumanji has been deteriorating – he now suffers from multiple conditions, including lethargy, spontaneous convulsions, partial blindness and a severe, itchy and painful skin condition.
In before and after pictures, Jumanji has clearly lost huge amounts of weight and appears malnourished, while videos show him being tired most of the time and looking very ill, especially for an animal of his breed.
Despite multiple experts, including vet techs, fox rescues and sanctuaries, and those knowledgeable in animal biology, reaching out to Sonia, she brushes them off as haters.
She insists that the conditions seen are a result of a seasonal allergy that makes him shed his fur and that he is at a healthy weight.
She also states that modern science permits veganism for animals like Jumanji.
The police are currently looking into the case as more and more people come forward to report her or attempt to reason with her.
For now, we hope that Jumanji, whose main diet consists of vegan cat food, will emerge from this ordeal unscathed.
Share away, people.
