You may know that dogs can develop sarcoptic mange, a very painful and itchy skin condition caused by mites. But, did you know that pigs can also get mange? Sarcoptic mange can be fatal if not treated properly, according to Jen Sale, the CEO, and founder of Sale Ranch Sanctuary. The piglet you see in this photo had sarcoptic mange and was in trouble.

The man who dropped the piglet off at a shelter near Temecula, California said it was a stray – but how many stray pigs have you ever heard of?

All the shelter workers believe the man didn’t want to deal with the sick pig and just dumped her at the shelter.
