Hurricane Matthew tore through North Carolina in October 2016. In a rush, many families had left their pets behind. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department sent a response team from their Animal Care and Control Emergency office to area homes to check on those animals. As they we making their rounds, they spotted a dog wandering the streets.
The dog has no microchip or ID – they assumed she lived in the area and gave her some food and water. Turns out that the “Little Brown Dog” didn’t have a home, she was a stray. The dog ended up following the response team around town.
The officers took a video of their new canine helper, and the video soon went viral. In the video, Officer Kish is seen opening the door and picking up the dog.
