But in this situation, clues led staff right back to the baby’s home. They even saw her mother perched there, eagerly awaiting her child’s return.

One volunteer named Mike, who knows how to safely scale a tree without damaging it, climbs the tree easily and removes the old nest. He then made sure there was a clearing for a new man-made nest.

After the safer, improved nest was arranged, another member of the staff, John Kraak, fed the owlet one more meal before letting it be brought back up the tree.

This was done using a rope and pulley system operated by Mike at the treetop and John on the ground.
