If you break a bone, you have to go to the doctor and get a cast to immobilize it so it can heal properly. Most wild animals have no ability to mend a broken leg. But the spider in this video appears to be applying a silk “cast” to fix one of its legs. Two friends caught the spider trapped it in a glass jar.
They accidently trapped one of the spiders’ leg with the rim of the jar and it was broken. Within seconds, the spider started to assess his leg. Then using its own silk and antennae, it began to make a cast! Watch the short video below and see how quickly the spider is able to immobilize its leg with silk!
