Russell had lived with a dog in that home, who had been killed in the fire. At the shelter, Russell met a dog named Roscoe. Roscoe, a Chihuahua, had been attacked by another dog.

Roscoe was happy to have a feline companion. Here you see Russell hanging out with Squirrel, a Labrador. Squirrel had been found on the road after an accident. You can see the two are quite comfortable with each other. Humans can learn a lot from animals.
