Doctor Helps Birth Baby Still Asleep In Her Amniotic Sac (Video)

Pregnancy is highly rewarding for many couples who long to be parents.

But even with the help of modern medicine, it is still a journey fraught with many possible mishaps.

Having miscarriages and stillborn fetuses, while not talked about, is still an issue many would-be future parents have to contend with.

On top of that, the survival rate of newborn babies is still an issue.

Yes, while modern medicine has progressed to the point this is no longer a problem that is first and foremost in your mind, cases still happen.

This is especially so with premature babies, who have a much harder time surviving outside the womb.

Bearing all that in mind, it is no wonder that a successful childbirth – especially a difficult one – is still considered a miraculous event.

In the case of this Spanish woman, she can be considered especially lucky on multiple different standpoints.

Firstly, she had given birth to triplets!

Their rarity and their survival is a feat in and of itself, given just how difficult a triplet birth can be.

Secondly, and most importantly, her children are one of the few very rare examples of an incredibly unusual birthing case – an ‘en-caul’ birth.

For those of you who are more familiar with folklore and superstition, you may already know what a caul birth is.

Essentially, a caul birth is when the child is born with part of the amniotic sac still attached to the baby in the form of a membrane covering the entirety of the head.

Sometimes, it can reach down all the way to the torso.

Babies born in such a condition are usually believed to have supernatural powers.

A caul birth, however, should not be confused with an en-caul birth.

This is because the amniotic sac is completely intact, with the child fully enveloped by it.

As you can imagine, this is an incredibly rare phenomenon – in fact, it only happens in 1 out of 80,000 births.

To what must be the extreme pleasure of this mother, two out of three of her triplets were delivered en caul!

Thanks to Dr. Rodrigo da Rosa Filho, who had decided to film this birth, this special event has been captured on camera for future records and our viewing pleasure!

The feature of this film is Adeline, who was still in her amniotic sac when delivered.

This is considered a good thing in the case of premature babies, as the sac is believed by experts to be a great source of protection for the newborn baby during its mother’s contractions.

Plus, this baby is still essentially in the womb – it is very safe in there!

Her older brother, Joaquim, was also born en caul, but had his sac popped earlier.

In the video, the doctors are reluctant to disturb the sleeping newborn baby, so they try to wake her up!

Because she is safe in the amniotic sac, there really isn’t any rush to burst her sac and free her.

In the meantime, we get an intimate view into how it looks like in the womb!
