When Kasey Boggs first adopted Jake the dog, she didn’t know much about him – just that he had been an unwanted gift who had, as a result, spent his entire life up to that point locked up inside.

Boggs was used to rescues, as she’d had experience caring for animals from the age of 15. But Jake was something else.

Everything frightened him, and it took him forever to learn to get used to simple, little things. Even one of Boggs’ rescue cats named Mia scared the life out of him.

Luckily, it only took a week before Jake warmed up to Mia, and they ended up cuddling. This is where Jake learned that new things were not necessarily going to hurt him.

But then something very new arrived – two orphaned ducklings from a nursery. Boggs was worried about how Jake would react.
