Teenager Killed WWII Veteran, 91, By Setting Him On Fire

A teenager is suspected of killing a 91-year-old man in Detroit.

The elderly man, Paul Monchnik, appears to have been forced to drink gasoline.

Monchnik was then beaten and finally burned to death in his own home.

During the hearing, Dr. Kilak Kesha testified that Monchnik may have drunk the accelerant or if could have been poured into his mouth when he was unconscious.

Family members in court gasped when they heard these details.

The suspect, in this case, is George Steward IV, 17.

He was summoned to court on January 15, 2017, and has been charged with felony murder, burning a dwelling, and first-degree murder.

According to reports, Steward entered Monchnik’s home on Nov. 23, with the intent to rob him of his van.

Steward attacked the elderly Monchnik. The gasoline had been purchased at a nearby gas station.

Police believe Steward used the fuel to try and cover his tracks.

Thankfully, it didn’t work out as well as he planned. Steward was found and arrested by local authorities and jailed.

When police arrived at the scene, Monchnik was already dead.

The medical reports showed that 80% of his body was burned and Monchnik had a severe head injury that was enough to kill him.

Sgt. Brian Bowser from the Detroit police testified that Monchnik’s cellphone was found in Steward’s backyard (which was next door to Monchnik’s home).

Let us hope that the severity of the crime and the premeditation of it gets this juvenile to be charged as an adult.

This type of person shouldn’t be allowed to be free.

If he has done it once, he could do it again.

Share away, people.
