When the owner of Trixxie, a small chi-weenie dog, let her out at 7 o’clock one morning to do her business, she didn’t think twice about her pup’s safety.
There was no coyote activity reported anywhere in the region.
But a security camera captured the life and death struggle that soon followed when a coyote spotted the small dog and immediately chased after it, locking its powerful jaws onto poor little Trixxie’s neck.
The coyote then attempted to drag the dog off into nearby woods.
But Trixxie had a guardian angel watching out for her in the form of a neighbor’s Rottie dog named Happy.
As soon as the Rottie saw the commotion that was happening, he immediately took off after the coyote, forcing it to drop his prey.
On the security camera video, Happy can be seen interacting in a forceful way with the menacing coyote so that Trixxie was able to escape his deadly grasp.
Had it not have been for Happy’s courageous intervention, poor Trixxie would likely have been the coyote’s breakfast.
It’s not known if Trixxie’s owner rewarded Happy for coming to her small dog’s rescue, but Trixxie can count herself lucky that Happy was paying attention that morning so he could avert tragedy for his best friend.
