A man named Dave decided to stop by a farm in Millbrook, Ontario to film some footage of the cows cooling off in a little pond. But it wasn’t long before he noticed that one of the cows that one of the cows was mooing awfully loudly and coming very close to him!
The cow was one named Flo, and at first, Dave thought she was merely curious about him, but then he noticed that she seemed distressed and was staying put by a certain area right near the electric fence that kept her and the other cows from leaving their pasture. Dave realized that something was wrong and decided to approach her.
Flo led him to a spot and David immediately realized what had happened. Underneath the fence, slid over to the outside of the pasture, was a newborn calf. Flo had just delivered her baby and had picked a sloped area to do so, resulting in the baby sliding beneath the fence and winding up on the other side. She couldn’t get to her little one through the fence, and she needed to be with her baby so she could nurse it, care for it, and form a bond with it.
Dave knew he had to help her, and he knew how important it was that mother and calf were united. So he grabbed onto a stick and used it to prop up the electric fence, then slowly tried to slide the calf back underneath it and to the mother cow. It was a tough process and both Dave and the calf got shocked a few times, but in the end, the calf was finally back where it needed to be.
Dave’s quick thinking and smart idea meant that the two were finally reunited! He went to tell the farm about the new calf so they could tag it. When Dave went back to visit them again and get some more footage, the two seemed to recognize him and came up to express their thanks. Aww!
