Take a look at this dog. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize he is extremely underweight. The average weight of this breed of dog is about 40 pounds, but he weighs only 19. The dog named Malachi was seen by a concerned citizen alone on the streets of Cleveland, Ohio.
Malachi had been seen desperately searching for food near some apartments on the east side of the city. Malachi was taken in by Mutts in a Rut Rescue who posted his pictures on their Facebook page. Malachi is only one-year-old.
Ed Jamison, Cleveland’s chief animal control officer, said that the dog would not have survived much longer if the citizen hadn’t called for help. Malachi is getting small meals to build up his weight slowly. Malachi will be placed in a foster home once he is stronger.
