Dr. Rudiger named her new purple fur baby Smurf. Based on his injuries, Dr. Rudiger thinks that the tiny kitten had been used as live bait for fighting dogs (an illegal enterprise). It is likely that the cruel people who did this had seen an ad online for free kittens.
Dr. Rudiger warned people never to do that – not all the people who answer those ads plan on taking good care of them.
Smurf may be a purple color for the rest of his life according to Dr. Rudiger, but things could have been a lot worse for the little guy!
Be smart, be alert. If you suspect animals are being abused or mistreated – say something, call 911 or animal control!
