This Hospital Is Letting Kids Drive Themselves To Surgery To Overcome Fears

It’s every mother’s worst nightmare to hear that their innocent child has to undergo surgery. No parent for that matter wants to carry that burden.

Surgery can be a very stressful time for all those involved. Not to mention the anxiety of having to trust your doctor implicitly with the welfare and safety of your little one.

On the contrary, the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, California has come up with an endearing and ingenious way to reduce some of the anxiety of surgery day.

To ease their anxiety and fear, all of their young patients are allowed to drive themselves to surgery in a flashy little car.

Kids can choose between a pink Volkswagen Beetle or black Mercedes.

In a recent social media update, the Medical Center posted photos of two young children smiling happily, while driving themselves to the surgery room.

In the post, the Medical center mentions that their overall goal is to reduce the stress and anxiety for both parents and children.

The Doctors Medical Center first car was a black Mercedes and it was an immediate hit with both the children and their families.

After the success of the mini Mercedes, a generous employee decided to donate to the cause.

Now in addition to the mini Mercedes, they now have a cute little pink Volkswagen Beetle as well.

The Medical Center also posted videos of the children driving themselves. One of their patients, Caroline is seen in the video giving the little pink bug a spin.

The doctors there said that you could actually see the anxiety and stress melt away as she drove around the hospital.

Naturally, this concept was well received on social media. Several individuals on Facebook left heartwarming and uplifting comments, praising the Medical Center for their efforts.

Since the debut of the video, many people have also selflessly offered to donate more mini cars to the Medical Center.

The hospital encourages all who wish to donate to do so by contacting them via email to make the necessary arrangements.
