People who love animals know that their pets love them back.
In fact, most people who have pets do not think of them as ‘pets’ – they are family.
We would do just about anything for our pets. Like, share our food and even our beds with them.
Wagner Figueiredo de Lima and his horse, Sereno could always be found doing things together.
They were buds, living the life in Paraiba, Brazil. When Lima, 34, died after suffering injuries in a traffic accident, Sereno was left without his best friend.
During the funeral procession for Lima, Sereno was allowed to walk with Lima’s human friends.
Everyone knew how much Lima meant to Sereno and wanted him to be able to participate.
Sereno seemed to know what the whole thing meant too.
When the coffin arrived, Sereno was seen walking around it and smelling it – then he neighed.
Many of the people in attendance were brought to tears.
The group continued walking, and Sereno was visibly heartbroken.
According to, Wando, Lima’s brother, Sereno whimpered and beat the ground with his hooves as they walked.
Sereno may have lost his best friend, but he will not be alone. Wando has taken over his care.
No one wants to talk about death and dying, but be sure that if you have pets, you have decided where they will go live if something should happen to you.
If no one steps forward to take your pets, they may end up at a shelter.
Share away, people.
