Finding the love of your life has changed over the years. My parents met at work, I met my husband online. Did you know that in 1865 some men put ads in newspapers looking for wives? Well, the one that was unearthed recently comes to us from 1865, and it isn’t what I would call flattering or something I would ever take seriously!
But, the 18-year-old man advertising for a wife has good teeth, so I guess that is something! The ad is quite endearing once you get past the headline “Chance for a Spinster.” I am not sure that has ever been viewed as a flattering word by any woman.
