The Hallock family returned from their well-deserved vacation one day, only to find their beloved dog, Gloria, dead – with a note from the Oakland Police Department. And it wasn’t good news at all. It read that 11-year-old Gloria was shot out of ‘defense’, as the police claimed that she was about to attack them. But Gloria was an elderly and sweet-natured dog – she would NEVER do that.
The Hallock family defended their dog, saying that although Gloria had a loud bark, she also had arthritis – which meant that her movements were extremely limited and slow. There was no way she could have attacked.
However, the family said that they are not angry with the police for doing so – although, this proves that animal policies are in great need of change.
Rest in peace, dear Gloria.
