Elderly Woman Wakes Up To Find An Exotic Animal Resting On Her Chest

In Miami, Florida, a 99-year-old woman was resting in her bedroom when she felt something heavy on her chest. It wasn’t a dog or a cat. It was a kinkajou, who had escaped from her previous residence.

The species, nicknamed ‘honey bears’, have a lifespan of a maximum of 23 years. They are avid climbers and mostly reside amongst the trees. The Kinkajou, named Banana, hid in the woman’s attic after she screamed, and took some coaxing in order for her to be ferried to the South Dade Avian and Exotic Animal Medical Center for a medical check-up. Her owner, Raymond Fernandez, had left Banana with his brother before he left the house and only found out that she had escaped from her cage once he returned home.

The pair were reunited after the incident.
