Elena’s father, Keith, wanted to make sure that they all focused on the family – not the cancer.
They made sure they did all the things Elena wanted to do. Elena like to write little notes. She wrote some to her mom and dad, her sister, and other members of the family.
She had written hundreds of notes.
Elena’s mom, Brooke, said they found the notes hidden all over the house after Elena’s death.
Brooke felt that the notes were Elena’s way of telling them it was going to be okay. They were found in photo boxes, between dishes, and in dresser drawers.
Two years after Elena passes, they gathered up all the notes (there were three full boxes worth of notes Elena had left!) and made a book and called it “Notes Left Behind.”
