The man in the picture is her husband, and Mackenna’s dad, Jon. The family lives in California, and the world is now sending them love after seeing the photo and hearing the story behind it.
Mackenna’s mom, Marci, is getting radiation treatment for thyroid cancer. If caught early, thyroid cancer is treatable with radiation therapy. The downside is that patients undergoing radiation therapy are slightly radioactive and need to be isolated from other people.
