On a farm in Sebeka, Minnesota, a miracle of life occurred – one that completely shocked the owners of the farm.
Deb and Chuck Beldo have had a farm for all their lives. They’ve seen many cows give birth and are pretty seasoned when it comes to that area, so they know what to expect. When one of their cows got pregnant for the third time, they took it in stride. Her first two pregnancies resulted in single healthy calves, and they were certain it would happen again.
But as it turns out, when it comes to miracles, the third time’s the charm.
When it came time for the cow to give birth, Deb stayed by the cow’s side, watching the process. Chuck watched from a distance as Deb held up fingers to signify how many calves were born. One, two, then three… and finally, the number stopped at a shocking four.
The chance of a cow having quintuplets is 1 in 700,000 – but the chance of all those quintuplets staying live is a whopping 1 in 11.2 million. A full week later, the calves were healthy, learning fast, and going strong.
Deb and Chuck had never seen anything like it in their entire lives, yet now, they’re hand-feeding these little ones every four hours and staring in amazement at what their cow was able to create. I suppose now would be a good time to say, holy cow!
