Adorable Preemie Baby Is Scared, So Nurse Places A Crocheted Octopus Near Her

No mother-to-be wants to go into labor early. We all know the dangers of having a premature baby – but there isn’t too much that can be done to stop it. Kat Smith had her twins Jasmine and Amber early. They both had to spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The preemies in the NICU are often hooked up to machines and have monitors and devices around then. It can be a lonely place for a newborn.

The hospital in the U.K. where Jasmine and Amber were staying had a unique way to help make preemies more comfortable.

They use crocheted octopus toys! Inside their incubators, the babies are safe from germs and are protected from sound – they also don’t get to spend much time being held by mom or dad.
