One day in 1980, an American businesswoman named Mary Robertson was looking for a nanny to care for her son Patrick, who was a toddler at that time. The pair moved all the way from America in order to reside in London due to Mary’s job. Only one young woman responded to her ad: it was Diana Spencer, aged 18 back then.
Mary took a liking to her, and hired her on the spot. For a rate of $5 an hour, Diana had to load the family laundry, pick up Patrick’s toys and wash dishes. Soon after, Diana left the job. With a check left under Mary’s bunk, it turns out that ‘Diana’ was actually Lady Diana Spencer, the people’s princess!
