Plastic is an amazing invention – it makes our lives easier. But plastic not disposed of properly wreaks havoc in nature. Stefan Broeckling found a swan in Duesseldorf, Germany with a plastic ring stuck around its torso. This would certainly be a death sentence for the swan. Stefan had to do something – fast. He was able to lure the swan over and grab hold of the big bird.
It sure does look like Stefan knew exactly what he was doing! He managed to cut the ring off the bird, and no one got hurt! The swan didn’t seem pleased to be restrained – but I am sure that he/she feels much better without that ring around its body.
