Some acts of betrayal are so cruel that you pray for good times to come for the victims. A viral video emerged last week of a terrified dog named Maya. She was being forcefully pulled into a shelter in Texas by her owner at the time, and she was too terrified to even go through the door.

The good news is that this pup is on the road to recovery and a better home. She’s been spending some time at the Aldine Animal Hospital for heartworm and to receive necessary vaccinations.

Meanwhile, the viral spread of the video led to one of the founders of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, Stacey Silverstein, seeing it and immediately deciding to take her in to her rescue. So Maya will be heading to New York as soon as she’s well!

It’s clear that this pup hasn’t received the right kind of love or care for most of her life, as she’s easily nervous and it takes a while to gain her trust. But since she first arrived at the hospital, she’s warmed up to walking on a leash and will let most people pet her!
