3-Year-Old Toddler Dies After Mom Leaves Her Alone In Bathtub To Fold Laundry

A mom put her little girl into the bathtub to give her a shower, because her toddler had a fever and had vomited.

Her mother wanted to get her daughter’s fever to come down. She went to fold laundry, just for a moment.

It only takes a few seconds for an accident to happen. Sadly, in this situation, it ended in tragedy.

When it comes to toddlers and babies, we must be alert and cautious every moment of each day.

Children are unpredictable, and we never know what they might try. When something happens, a parent should know when to call for assistance.

This specific situation is one that involved a toddler who was feverish and had vomited earlier in the day, and her Mom casually thought the child would be alright for a moment.

The consequences in this case were fatal; something the mother will never get over and will regret forever.

The day three-year-old Eve Blankenfiled passed away was a frantic time for her family.

Their toddler, Eve, was not feeling well.

Her Mom, Ruth, felt like it was okay to leave her in the bathtub and thought that by giving her a shower, she could get her little girl’s fever to come down.

She thought Eve would be just fine if she went to fold some laundry; just for a moment.

Sadly, when Ruth went back to the bathroom, her little girl was not breathing. She did not know what to do, so she called for EMTs.

Wise County Police stated that Ruth administered CPR until EMTs arrived on the scene. Mrs. Blankenfiled was in a panic and in shock and tried to get her little girl to breathe.

Mr. Blankenfiled stated that they promptly called for help when they saw their child laying on her stomach and realized she was unconscious.

Eve did not regain consciousness and passed away five days later, on March 5, 2019.

According to a GoFundMe page about the toddler stated that as soon as her Mom found her in that condition, the child was immediately taken to a medical facility in Decatur.

When the medical professionals realized that Eve’s condition was worse than they originally thought, medics had her flown by helicopter to a larger hospital.

This tragedy is a heartbreaking, gut-wrenching event no parent should ever have to deal with.

In just a moment or so, their lives changed drastically, ending in an overwhelmingly sad way.

One can only imagine how the parents of Eve Blankenfiled, Ruth and Tanner, are feeling; sleepless nights, running the whole incident through the mind, wondering why this tragedy had to happen to their sweet little girl.

Eve’s Mom is beside herself with grief and heartache.

Tanner, Eve’s father posted a message on Facebook that said:

“Our sweet baby girl passed away yesterday, early evening. Although we realize she in in Heaven now, with her Heavenly Father and our Lord, Jesus Christ, our hearts ache with sorrow and grief and we miss her more than words can express. Thank you all for your prayers throughout this tragic time in our lives. You are truly our earthly angels.”

The Blankenfiled family has created a GoFundMe page to assist with medical expenses.

On the GoFundMe page, it reads:

Our family is profoundly distressed to tell you that our Eve left us early evening on March 5th.

We believe she is with her Heavenly Father in Heaven, which comforts us some.

Her doctors tell us that she did not suffer, and her passing was serene and painless.

She was treated by an outstanding team of nurse practitioners and physicians at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers and thoughts.

We are in mourning; grieving our huge loss of our beautiful baby girl, Eve, Mom and Dad also wrote on their Facebook page.

The GoFundMe page additionally mentions the Blankenfiled’s big family; Eve’s four brothers and one sister are mourning the loss and miss her dearly.

Any funds raised will help the family with medical expenses and will help the family as they try to heal emotionally from this sad tragedy.

No charges will be filed against Ruth, as the Police have ruled it as an accident, a sad tragic accident.

Numerous messages have been posted on Facebook, with condolences for the family and loving messages about Eve.

One message read: “We feel your grief right along with you and are so sorry this happened to your family and little Eve. As many of us have already said, all of you are in our prayers and thoughts now and always. Only you can know the heartache and pain you are feeling. We are so very sorry for your suffering! We love you all!”
