So, the criminals take advantage and ask for thousands of dollars! The elderly person is told to send cash, a cashier’s check, or to wire the money into a bank account.
Woman’s Day reported that one woman wired $18,000 to an account because she thought her grandson had been arrested! To avoid being scammed don’t answer calls from a number you don’t recognize!
