Girl Accidentally Consumes Peanuts At School, Begs For Her EpiPen, Gets Rejected

She said that they would meet Lia at the hospital. When Lia’s parents arrived at the hospital, Lia was there alone – no one from the school bothered to stay with the minor. Lia’s parents have decided not to sue the school district, Township High School School District 214.

The district is reviewing its rules for how to handle food allergies and medical treatment. Jennifer Delgado, District 214 spokesperson, expressed sincere apologies for how the matter was handled.

She said that student safety is paramount and they are working with the family.

The school has offered to pay Lia’s medical bills. Tragically, the nurse who failed to follow the proper protocols is still working at the school.
