2-Day-Old Micro Kitten Was Found Locked In A Cold Cage

When you hear the word, ‘micro’ do think of big things or small things?

Small right?

What if you put the word ‘micro’ in front of kitten – you get micro kitten!

Which would mean a very small cat!

The micro kitten in this story is named Bijou.

Bijou weighed about the same as a half of a muffin when she came to The National Kitten Coalition located in Gainesville, VA.

Bijou and her siblings were about 48 hours old when they were rescued from a shelter.

None of them were in good shape, but their foster family helped to get the tiny cats all stable.

There were five kittens in the litter, sadly, one did not make it.

Bijou was the smallest of the four surviving kittens – weighing only 2.6 ounces.

When she hit 4 ounces, she seemed to stop gaining weight.

It was touch and go for some time with Bijou.

She would gain a few grams and then lose them again.

At nine weeks of age, she weighed 8.2 ounces and was a happy, healthy micro cat!

What Bijou lacks in size, she makes up for with her personality! When she turned 4 months old, Bijou only weighed 1.6 pounds.

Bijou will always be small, but she has thrived under the care of her foster family.

Bijou and her siblings were very lucky to have found their way into the loving arms of a foster family.

Without them, none of the kittens would have survived.
