Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage is a sanctuary for orphaned rhinos. Most of the animals that live at the refuge have lost their families to poachers. The unthinkable happened just a few nights ago at Thula Thula.
Two rhinos, Impy and Gugu, were shot – and they were just infants.
Two armed men stormed onto the property and held the staff hostage. The security cameras were ripped out, and the two men shot the rhinos and removed their horns. The horns will most likely be sold.
Impy and Gugu were both 18-months old. Their horns were still rather small because of their age. Gugu died instantly.
