Genesis Davila, 24, was named Miss Florida USA on July 16, 2016. She was in line to be named Miss USA and even Miss Universe! Tragically, just a few days later, Genesis was stripped of her crown because she didn’t do her own makeup! The pageant rules clearly state that the contestants must do their own makeup, but Genesis had a professional makeup artist.
Genesis posted a photo on Instagram that was somehow seen by the judges – so, she lost her title. It is too bad that she lost her title. But rules are rules. If you can’t follow the rules, you should be penalized. It does seem petty (or silly, or insane) that Genesis lost her title, but I applaud the judges for knowing the rules and keeping to them.
