In 1976, performance artists Marina Abramovic and Uwe Laysiepen (Ulay) fell in love when they started working together. Then in 1988, they separated in a rather unique way, they called it The Great Wall Walk. They had to walk on opposite ends of The Great Wall of China and meet again in the middle so they can say their final goodbyes.
More than twenty years passed. The video below is from 2010 in which Marina sat for up to a minute across the table from strangers. The patrons sat silently across the table from her. There was little or no emotion from Marina as each new person sat down in front of her. Then Ulay sat down at the table.

You can see Marina instantly recognize him and she begins to tear up. It is a beautiful moment. After Ulay walks off, it takes Marina a little while to compose herself.
