Heartbroken Baby Bear Refused To Leave Mother Killed By Poachers Until They Found Him

Poachers are claiming the lives of sloth bears in India. Not only that but humans keep encroaching on their territory, endangering not only to the sloth bear but others as well. Animals are exposed and more vulnerable, finding food becomes more challenging. Eventually, the animals end up wandering onto someone’s property and may destroy crops. Of course, this is unacceptable to residents, so they set up snares and traps.

The tiny sloth bear is still clinging to its dead mother. The mother had been killed by poachers. The poachers set up a high-voltage wire on the edge of a tiger reserve in India. The mother was electrocuted and killed when she walked across it. A rescue team found the tiny cub nursing from his dead mother.

The team of rescuers was from Agra Bear Rescue Facility (ABRF), located in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The facility is run by International Animal Rescue (IAR) and Wildlife SOS.

Dr. Amol Narwade, a veterinarian, said that the baby bear is quite traumatized and will need to be closely watched for some time.
