Soldiers are trained never to break formation. It is part of what being a soldier is all about – following orders. Lieutenant Daniel Oglesby had little choice but to break formation. You see, Oglesby was had been deployed with 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division in Southeast Asia for nearly 9 months.
He and his fellow soldiers had just returned home to Fort Carson, Colorado. The troops were all lined up. Then a little girl, Cara, Oglesby’s daughter broke out and started to run straight for him! She was so happy to see her daddy again – who could blame her? She was dressed in an American-flag themed outfit.

Oglesby didn’t have it in him to just ignore his baby girl! It all happened so fast! I am glad that he chose to give his baby a hug – aren’t you?
