The things some people do in their free time just blows my mind. Check out the now viral photo of this naked man straddling a dead shark. I have so many questions, I don’t even know where to begin! Anyway, the photo was first posted on Twitter on May 5th by Anneka Svenska, a British wildlife filmmaker and TV presenter.

Svenska shared the photo hoping to identify the man on top of the shark. Svenska asked her followers to retweet the photo and asked what was so funny about the senseless slaughter of animals. At first, many people thought the smiling pervert was Jim McElwain, Florida Gators, football coach. But McElwain was able to squash those rumors rather quickly.

The next person people thought of was Jimmy John Liautaud, the founder of the Jimmy John’s sandwich chain. Apparently, Liautaud has a history of taking photos of himself next to dead animals, so he appears to be a good suspect. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Liautaud said that all of his hunting trips were legal and the meat from the animals was consumed.

Liautaud also said that he had stopped hunting big game. But, if you look at the photo, the resemblance is strong. A spokesman for the Liautaud said the man in that photo is not Liautaud. While that is nice that a spokesman has stated the man isn’t Liautaud, I would like to hear that from Liautaud himself.

So, the search continues for the man. Many people are still as confused as I am – why would someone do that?
