Owning a pet is not for everyone. Pets will look to you for shelter and food. They will give you love – even if you don’t deserve it. Dogs especially will love you more than they love themselves. If you own a dog, you are a lucky person. Take care of them – to them – you are family. Tom was chained to a tree for the first four years of his life.

He had a miserable existence, he had mange, worms, and was malnourished (as you can clearly see in the photos). He weighed less than 40 pounds when he was finally set free.

Tom didn’t know what it was like to get enough to eat, to have plenty of clean water, and he wasn’t seen by a veterinarian. You can’t even tell what kind of dog Tom is at all.

His rescuers took him in and gave him food, water, and medical care. They took him to an adoption event, and he wiggled his way into the heart of his new owner!
