A new cellphone text scam has made rounds on users’ mobile phones, and replying to it invites dire consequences. It poses as your local bank asking for your personal details. With your bank details, scammers have the potential to drain all funds in your bank accounts within light speed – and there is nothing you can do to retrieve them.
One unfortunate dame had at least $75,000 stolen from her bank account as a result of replying to the text. Claire Pearson was left greatly dismayed when her bank, Santander, had refused to reimburse her, saying that it is her own mistake. Beware of fraudulent texts like this!
