Animal Control Refuses To Return Family’s Dog, Says It’s Not A Dog After All

When people adopt dogs, they become a part of the family. That’s why it came as a nasty shock to the Abbato family when Aurora Animal Control took away their dog of ten years and refused to return him to them. Capone was adopted from an animal shelter as a German shepherd mix, which is confirmed by the Abbato’s family vet, but local animal control insists that he is actually a wolf-hybrid.

He was picked up by animal control after he jumped the fence and escaped for the first time ever, and the local shelter is holding him hostage until a DNA test proves he is not part-wolf. If he is, then he’ll either be put down or sent to a wolf sanctuary.

Tracy Abbato, the mother of the family, expressed that the sudden turn of events is hard on the whole family, and her children all miss him dearly.

She stated in disbelief that she cannot comprehend how those who mistreat their dogs haven’t had their pets taken away, but their dog, who has a loving home, isn’t allowed home. They are now attempting to have Capone returned to them, at least until the DNA test results are back in.

Aurora Animal Control issued a statement in response that experts observed that many of Capone’s characteristics seems to be in line with those of a wolf hybrid.

If this is confirmed, the organization aims to find a sanctuary that specializes in them and place him there.
